Summer is just around the corner. I don’t know about you, but I have really been really excited to make the most out of this summer. Whether it be by planning trips with friends, finding new activities to do outside, or finding new ways to really take care of myself and romanticize every moment. The weather is warming up, the birds are singing, and everything just feels better. I plan to take this summer to try and elevate my life as much as possible.

In the past I have definitely been prone to just sleeping in late, lounging around, and just not doing much with this beautiful season. Then September comes around and all of a sudden, I’m thinking: Where did my summer go? I do not plan on this occurring this year. These are the ways that I am planning to make the most out of summer 2024:

  1. Plan Trips with Friends and Family

I know this one can be a daunting task. I have never been one to make my own plans for things. I usually just wait and see if anyone else plans something and decides to invite me. But why not take charge? If you have a place you’ve always wanted to visit, or even just want to plan a day trip to the closest lake or beach, DO IT! There have been so many times where I say Oh, I’d love to go there, never actually plan it, and then its three years later and I’m still just thinking about it. I personally love camping and want to explore as many places as possible. Summer is the perfect time to go see everything you want to see. And if travel isn’t within your means right now, plan it and save it for next year. Or find local spots you’ve never been to and make a day out of exploring these locations with friends or family. I recommend writing things out in a planner, that way they won’t get forgotten about.

  2. Pick Up a New Hobby

Hobbies are a great way to really elevate your life. It gives a sense of accomplishment and purpose. I know that when I engage in hobbies it does wonders for my mental health, depending on what you engage in it can also be great for your physical health. I personally love reading, crocheting, and journalling. These are things you can do inside or outside. I just adore sitting on my back patio, sipping some homemade lemonade, and reading a good book. Or crocheting new clothing pieces that I can show off throughout the season. If you’ve never crocheted before I would highly recommend picking up a book to teach you or looking up some tutorials on YouTube. I taught myself all on my own by doing this. Or maybe start an outdoor activity like hiking, cycling, or even starting a garden. Really get out into nature and explore the world around you.

  3. Self-Care

Taking the time to really slow down and take care of yourself is so important. Prioritize your wellbeing. My favorite way to do this is to create little rituals for myself. Set up routines or activities that make you feel good. They can be little things you add into your daily routine, or a larger event that takes some time. Some examples of this might look like:

    • making yourself a nice dinner with a glass of wine

    • taking a bath with some candles lit

    • creating a skin care routine (don’t forget sunscreen)

    • going on a walk with an awesome playlist plating in your headphones

    • making chocolate covered strawberries and eating on a blanket in the grass

The possibilities are really endless. Do things that improve your quality of life. Whatever that means to you.

  4. Do a Full Reset

This one may be more beneficial to do in the spring or right before summer. I know we have all heard the term “Spring Cleaning”, a time to deep clean everything. I want to take this a step further though. Yes, the actual cleaning step is important but also take some time to declutter and refresh. Maybe go through your wardrobe and sell or donate things you haven’t worn in years. Or get rid of those towels that are old and maybe have some holes in them. Get rid of any expired makeup. Go through anything that could use a refresh, purge what is no longer serving its full potential, and replace those necessities with new items that elevate your space. This always makes me feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. With the seasons changing, the earth almost seems to do this too. Go through a complete reset.

  5. Set New Goals

I’m sure we all fall victim to setting resolutions in January and then never following through with them. Even if we do follow through with them this is a great time to step back and reevaluate. We are coming up on the halfway point of 2024. Take a look at what you’ve accomplished as well as what you haven’t. Maybe some things have gotten pushed to the backburner. Or maybe you’ve succeeded at all of your goals already and it’s time to set some new ones. This can be a great time to reflect. Really pinpoint what’s most important to you. What do you want to do with the rest of the year. There is still so much time to complete projects, get that promotion, or start a savings account. Whatever goals you may have set for yourself this year, take a moment and see if there’s anything you may want to be doing differently. Or if there’s new tasks you’d like to complete. I would recommend starting a vision board, Pinterest board, or even just a journal to map everything out. Create a plan or add to an existing one. We don’t have to wait until January to begin something new.

Hopefully you find this list helpful. I know I plan to make the most of Summer 2024. I really hope to feel like a better version of myself by the time the season is over. It is such a beautiful time with so many possibilities.
